Lead Found in Popular Diaper Bags/Changing Pads
According to the Center for Environmental Health , products that tested positive for lead include "Baby Got Bag," Disney's "Dolly" and "Baby Necessities" at Kmart; "George" at Wal-Mart; and Carters "Out 'N About" at Babies R Us.
Ok, this is particularly scary for me because I have one of these diaper bags that I bought at Wal-Mart and absolutely love :( Guess I'll be in the market for a new diaper bag pretty much immediately.

Product Review: Maternity Salon Hair Products
My curly hair has been a nightmare most mornings but I’ve actually found some help for my wild, dry, frizzy mane. Help is in the form of the Maternity Salon hair products.
Maternity Salon products were developed by a salon owner, stylist, and master colorist educator with 23 years of experience, who also happens to be a mom. The most important tool to support any great cut or color is your styling products. Maternity Salon provides the best in styling products designed especially for the needs of pregnant and new moms. With no extra time to spare, these products give a professional salon look in just a few minutes.
Here are my favorites
- The Heavenly Shampoo provides moisture to dry, colored and curly hair and smells like a tropical dream. It leaves hair clean and rinses easily.
- The Curly Crème increases curl and wave definition. It helps keep curls smooth and frizz-free. The best part, unlike many similar products, is its light, flexible hold. Not stiff and sticky. It adds incredible shine to your hair and makes it look like you just stepped out of the salon.
- Silk Nectar infuses and redefines any hair texture. Curly hair becomes smooth and shiny. It feels like you have nothing at all in your hair yet you can see the difference.
The lettering on some of the labels were a little difficult to read but the quality of the product made that seem insignificant.
Just a tip, do not use the Curly Crème or Silk Nectar for the first time just before a special occasion. It may take you a few times to figure out the right amount for your hair texture, length, and thickness. The first time I used too much and the second not enough but after the third time I know how much works for me and my hair has never looked better. No more frizzy, dry, tangled mess for me. J It looks like I just left the salon.
Do not shy away from trying them just because you are not pregnant. It really is a shame the product line is called Maternity Salon because they work great for everyone!
Coupon Code: "BP-1" for $5.00 off any order for Goodies for Mom readers.

Baby Safety Line Helps Ensure No Baby is Left Behind
It is to imagine but last year in the U.S., 35 children died of hyperthermia after being left in cars. From 1998 to 2007, 361 children died (CBS4.com, 2008).
Forgotten by those that love them most. Why? Not intentional of course. People become so busy that sometimes their days become a blur, moving along in auto pilot.Waking up each day, geting ready for work, getting the children ready, off to work and...Oh no, you forget your baby in the car!
Carlos Perez and his wife from Ft. Lauderdale, FL know first hand that it can happen to anyone.
According to Perez:
"My wife and I went out to eat with our two children. It was routine when stopping any where, I would automatically get my son out of my side of the car and my wife would get my daughter on the other side of the car. Not this time! My wife was on her cell phone talking to her mom and when she walked into the restaurant with my daughter missing she immediately could tell something was wrong by the look on my face. When I asked where she was, our hearts fell and we ran to the car to find her screaming and banging on the window in fear. We will never forget that moment and the worst didn’t happen to me as it has to many others."
The Perezes were determined to make sure it did not happen to them or anyone else again. Their solution: The Baby Safety Line.
How it works:
- Connect the end of the safety line to the base of the baby car seat with the included peal and stick hook.
- Connect the other end of the safety line to your car key after you get in the car.
- When you reach your location, just disconnect the baby safety line from your keys to help you remember to get the baby out.

Product Review: Angel Baby Products from Earth Mama Angel Baby
Having a baby with very sensitive skin, makes a mommy very nervous trying new products but I’m always looking for new products that are good for my little guy’s skin and safe too. I was excited to get the "Little Something for Baby’s Suitecase” Gift Pack in the mail.
Angel Baby Shampoo & Body Wash is so gentle and made only of organic and natural ingredients. It comes in a self-foaming bottle that makes it easy to use and a little bit goes a long way. Not only was it great on sensitive skin, but your older children will love it too.
“This smells great. Can I use it every day?” asked my four year old.
The pleasant natural orange smell left everyone smelling sweet. Be careful though because it is not no-tear, so use caution near their eyes.
The Angel Baby Lotion is 100% naturally preserved with no artificial fragrances or dyes and is toxin-free. It is soothing to eczema, skin allergies, and diaper rash. My son’s sensitive skin soaked it up and yet it was non-greasy. Add in that it also has a very pleasant fragrance and baby smelled so good!
The Angel Baby Bottom Balm was a little greasy for my taste and the smell was not near as nice as the other two but it worked well on baby’s bottom, which is the most important thing when you are dealing with nasty diaper rash.
Tons of love and care is put into the design of these products right down to the packaging. The plastic PET bottles and jars are the safest containers for both the products and customers. They are colored to keep out harmful UV rays. It is readily recyclable and the safe. Thank goodness, they use plastic, because I am embarrassed to tell you how many times I dropped the bottles and jars already and we have only been using them a few weeks.

Hi, I'm Lois, owner of Goodies for Mom, a division of the Cushie Pushie Company and I'm glad you could make our party. I'm also the inventor of the Cushie Pushie Breast Support Pillow. In addition and probably the toughest job of all is that I'm a mom to two boys, 2 and 4. They keep me very busy.
Here are my favorite party recipes and they are so easy because I'm not a cook:
Meatball Sandwiches
1 bag frozen meatballs (thawed)
1 large jar (32 oz) of spaghetti sauce
Put layer of sauce in the bottom of crockpot, then a layer of meatballs. Layer remaining sauce and meatballs. Heat on auto for 3 hours or until warmed through. Serve with 1/2 torpedo rolls.
Egg-free Cake (This is good even for those without egg-allergy because it's soooo moist.)
1 box of Philsbury Cake white cake mix
1 can Philsbury Supreme icing
Make cake mix as directed on box except subsititute one kid's size applesauce container instead of the eggs.
Welcome to my "home!" Come on in and make yourself at home, now let's PARRRRTTYYY!!!!!!! Check back later for photos from our party too!
We hope you'll come to visit regularly! We LOVE guests!

Case to Be Dropped Against Mom Accused of Leaving Child in Car
Charges will be dropped against a woman who briefly left her 2-year-old daughter alone in the car to take her two older daughters to pour coins into a Salvation Army kettle, prosecutors said Thursday.
Editor's Notes: Thank goodness is all I can say!!! The poor family is being torn throw the ringer over a judgement call. Does this mean we can't get out of the car to go around to the other side of the car and take them out of the car even because someone might knock me over the head and steal my car with the baby in it or the child could jump out before I get to them, and the same thing could happen that they describe as reasoning for arresting a mother infront of her children. Heck putting the child in the car and driving on the highway is probably more dangerous if you really want to start an arguement! There is risk everywhere around us. Unfortunately there are parents out there making poor decisions for their children's welfare but don't attack all because of some. She was trying to do a good thing by teaching her children about giving to the Salvation Army and this is the reward bestowed upon her.
Yes, accidents happen but the mother obviously made a judgement call as the child's parent as to what was the safest and best for HER child at the time. She is the parent, isn't she? We are not talking "unattended" out of view. Could she do things differently, would she do it differently now, or would someone else do something differently? Maybe, but being handcuffed and arrested. Who was watching her children then? What happened to a stern warning and explaination about why it is a bad idea? And throwing in obstruction of justice because she asked not to make any comments until her spouse arrived because she was probably scared to death and probably afraid to say anything out of fear of what they would do.
Must have been a slow crime day. How about going and snagging some of the shoplifters in the store? Or people driving through the crosswalks without stopping for pedestrians?
It is so sad that because there are a few bad people in the world that the rest of the world has to live in fear not only of those bad people, but because of them. Their behavior produces long-reaching reprocussions on normal lives of good people.

Let the Party Games Start
For my original Ultimate Blog Party post, click here.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ok, we've got food, balloons, now let the party games begin. How about a game of "I SPY"? I'll start...then everyone leave comments with guesses and questions and I'll add the questions with the answers to this post until someone guesses what I SPY.
The first one to guess the correct answer gets a "Surprise Box" from Susan Murphy, Inc containg embroidered items from totes to tees. It has a retail value of $75.00.
Here goes:
***I SPY something multi-colored. ***
Hint: Most busy moms have at least one of these in their house.
- Person, place or thing = Thing
- What room of the house would it be most frequently used? = Most frequently found in the bedroom but could be any room your husband or sons have been in ;)
- Is it something you clean with? No
- Is it something you wear? You could but you probably wouldn't want to, although I've know some men who would.
- Maybe a hat? No
- Could it be a glass? No
- Maybe a remote control? No
- What colors does it include? Most are blue, black, white, and red but there are some pink, purple and green mixed in.
- Boxer shorts or underwear? What I spy could include these.
- Or it could be a backpack/duffle bag? No
- Or a sports uniform? What I spy could include these.
- maybe even a pair of cleats (or some other kind of shoe)? No
- or maybe it's a lampshade....No
- Maybe a pile of dirty clothes? YES, Sarah I. is the winner!!!!!!!
Boy, is she good at this game. With two boys and a hubby, there are always piles of dirty laundry laying around my house even though I do laundry what seems like every day. The bedroom, the laundry room, the bathroom, the family room, even the kitchen!!!! Pretty much no matter where I look in my house I can SPY a pile of dirty laundry.
Lawrenceville, NJ (March 3, 2008) – Remember at the end of a party as a kid how much fun it was to receive a goody bag full of treats. Well, now there is a goody bag available for new moms. Goodies for Mom is offering new moms a bag of treats to celebrate the birth of their new babies.
The goody bags include product samples, coupons, safety tips, brochures on innovative new products, and helpful tools for new moms. There is a congratulatory letter, information on breastfeeding and baby wearing, a SIDS safety guide, and the “Mommy’s Little Helper” chart for breastfeeding moms to help track their nursing schedule and wet diapers. The samples include lollipops for pregnant moms, Mothering magazine, lanolin cream, and organic baby care products. The goody bags are all tied up in a gift bag with a pretty ribbon, a real treat. The bags are available at healthcare offices throughout the Central New Jersey/Eastern Pennsylvania area.
“As a mother of two boys, I am still always looking for new products and ways to make my life easier,” states Lois Whittaker, developer of the New Mom Goody Bag program and inventor of the Cushie Pushie Breast Support Pillow. “We developed these bags to give new moms a jumpstart in their journey into motherhood.”
