Study on Dangers of Flame-retardant Chemicals

Environmental advocates issued a report today warning that a flame-retardant chemical used in baby products may cause learning disabilities and cancer. The bromides (specifically, a bromide called decaBDE) are found in children's car seats, cribs, and mattresses. The recent study by the California-based Friends of the Earth found that 31 percent of the more than 150 different baby products found in California stores and homes contain this chemical.
