MOTHERS Act Goal to Beat Postpartum Depression

It is estimated that 14.5 % of new mothers have postpartum depression. Postpartum depression is a condition that includes all of the symptoms of major depression. The sad part is that many of these serious, even deadly symptoms are often dismissed as "baby blues."

Today bloggers across the U.S. are blogging to help draw attention to the Melanie Blocker Stokes MOTHERS Act with the goal to encourage it being passed. The Act would expand research into the causes and treatments; provide information and education to increase awareness; and make service grants available to individuals suffering from postpartum depression and their families.

Consider geting involved and helping combat postpartum depression by contact your local senators if they have not yet co-sponsored the MOTHERS Act. You can find out if your senators support this legislation by clicking here.

In addtion, if your senator has not yet co-sponsored the Act, you can visit here to view a pre-written letter to send to you senators.
