Product Review/Giveaway: Baby Gizmo Buying Guide

This giveaway is closed. The lucky winner is Danielle, Commentor #11. Come back and play again soon!

Even after two kids, I learned a few things from The Baby Gizmo Buying Guide. This is a must have book for moms who are pregant with their first child. It is the perfect book to pick up before you head off to the omnious aisles of Babies R Us to register for baby gifts. It walks you through all those foreign, and sometimes scary items in the baby store. The book goes through the different types of products available, including many of the variations. More importantly it helps you figure out what you need and what you can do without. It gives not only the good, but the bad too so you can make an informed decision. It helps you get only what you need so you can save a little money for those adorable little baby outfits ;)!

As sisters with 5 children under the age of 8, authors Hollie Schula and Heather Maclean (and tons of nieces and nephews) have done more than their fair share of baby product shopping. Readers of their book are lucky enough to gain from their experience. They take the strollers off the shelf, take products out of the box; they buy, try, and aren't afraid to return. They've been known to take a box of batteries to the store so they could see a product in action and it's even reported they've been caught licking the merchandise to see what their little ones will be tasting.

The one area that I thought was a little lacking was in the baby carrier section, which missed some great carriers like Mai Tais, ring slings, and wraps.

Their wonderful lists include the non-nonsense registry list, the perfectly packed diaper bag, and a list of must have products. It reminds mom's that safety is the most important thing while buying any baby item and what to look for. In addition, their list of seven baby products, you should never buy is worth the price of the book alone ($11.55). I'm ashamed to have not known about a few of them.

If the book is not enough for you, they have even developed a wonderful website that includes baby product reviews on the latest models. Check it out at

Here's your chance to win a copy of The Baby Gizmo Buying Guide of your own. Just leave a comment below before Monday, April 7, 2008 at midnight EST with your favorite "baby gizmo" from the Baby Gizmo site. You know that one you can not live without. A winner will be selected randomly from everyone leaving a comment.

My favorite has to be the Body Glove Baby Carrier - Red & White Hibiscus
It's great that they make ones that you can use for going in the water now. So much easier and safer.

Well, as my diaper bag zipper broke yesterday and I'm looking for a new diaper bag, my favorite has to be the Stocksak Emily bag, that would have to be the bag of my dreams. Thanks for the great give away. I would love to win the book.

Hey there Moms, it's time to show the world how sexy a soccer mom can be. Get your bag, shirt, or hat, and tell the world, "I'm a Sexy Soccer Mom, drive your own van!"

I'd have to say Goodnight Moon would be my favorite baby 'gizmo.' Quite by accident, our baby sleeps in a "great green room" too. :-)

My favorite Baby Gizmo would have to be two things i could not live without.
1. the tiny tots activity mat, this is lots of fun and entertainment for my little one. It travels with us, is placed in the pack and play for hours of fun and on the floor for toy time

2. The baby front carrier. This was a blessing especially when my little one was very tiny and we had to do xmas shopping. I would not have been able to do it with out it. She loved to sleep all snuggled close to mommy's chest
