Giveaway/Review: Danielson Designs Make a Great Gift

One lucky Goodies for Mom reader will win a gift of their choice from Danielson Designs (worth=$39.95).

If you are looking for a great gift for the holidays, a house warming or a baby gift, Danielson Designs has a customized signs, plaques, frames, or monograms for you.

We received our customized Family Name Sign sample in  the mail within a week and it looked great.  It was absolutely perfect.  It currently is hanging in our recently repainted hallway and looks fabulous. For those who didn't hear, we had a water leak that required our hallway floor and whole front yard to be torn up. This sign came at a great time since we were painting and replacing our floor with a new modern look. The classic burgandy color fit perfectly in with our deep tan walls earthy stone tile, and black photo collage frames.

Ordering is so simple. Just select the item you'd like customized. Pick your color and type in your message. The best part is almost all their items are under $40.  Danielson Designs does the rest.

CPSC Urges Stop Use of “My Baby Soother” Pacifiers

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is urging parents and caregivers to immediately stop giving the “My Baby Soother” pacifiers to their children. The pacifiers failed to meet federal safety standards because the nipples can separate from the base easily, posing a choking hazard to infants and toddlers.

Plum Organics Recalls Apple & Carrot Portable Pouches

Plum Organics voluntarily recalled a small portion of their Apple & Carrot Portable Pouches after a routine test determined the formulation was incorrect. Plum Organics immediately investigated the matter and confirmed that a mixing error was to blame which resulted in an improper blend of carrots and apples.

These pouches were sold individually at Toys-R-Us and Babies-R-Us locations nationally.

The pouches recalled have the best by date of May 21, 2010 and marked with the following number “890180001221” located at the bottom of the package. No illnesses have been reported in connection with this product and no other Plum Organics products are affected.

The recall was undertaken as a precaution due to the risk of potential contamination with Clostridium botulinum, which can cause botulism, a serious and sometimes lifethreatening condition. Consumers should not use these products, even if they appear to be normal, because of the possible health risk. Symptoms of botulism poisoning in humans include general weakness, dizziness, double-vision and trouble with speaking or swallowing. People experiencing these problems should seek immediate medical attention.

MOTHERHOOD: A Movie Moms Can Relate To

If any movie was made for moms it was this one. Opening October 23, 2009 in select cities, MOTHERHOOD is a bittersweet comedy that boils all the dilemmas of motherhood (marriage, work, self, and not necessarily in that order) into the trials and tribulations of one monumental day. Shot entirely on location in New York’s West Village, stars Uma Thurman as Eliza Welch, a former fiction writer-turned-mom-blogger with her own site, “The Bjorn Identity.” Putting her career ambitions on hold to raise her two children, Eliza lives and works in two rent-stabilized apartments right in the middle of Greenwich Village. Eliza’s good-natured but absent-minded husband played by Anthony Edwards seems tuned out to his wife’s conflicts and the basic domestic reality, while her best friend (Minnie Driver) understands Eliza like only another mother can.

Amid a crazy day of activities of being a mom, Eliza decides to enter a contest run by an upscale parenting magazine. Her task: to write 500 words answering the deceptively simple question, “What Does Motherhood Mean to Me?” Long after everyone is fast asleep, in the process of trying to put her thoughts into words, Eliza rediscovers her own voice and realizes what is truly valuable in her life.

Hmm, this looks like the perfect mom's night out activity.
